Ever since my very first life-altering trip to Haiti in 2015 with OWOC, this organization has been the biggest source of education, happiness and strength in my life. Without it, I would never be the person I am today. Thank you OWOC and thank you donors for shaping me and allowing me the opportunity to be a part of touching others’ lives all around the world” |

However, I was greeted with soul and faith, the strong dreams the people had, their happiness and joy in the little things, and how much they loved being with their families. I learned to appreciate the simple things in life and the beauty in nature. I have discovered through my OWOC trips that, happiness can be found through a kind smile." by Montana Taurean Perkins
Costa Rica 2012, Haiti 2015, Cuba 2016, Nicaragua 2017 "Looking back on my trip to Nicaragua, the trip was very enlightening. Seeing all the people so happy even though they have so little, has taught me to appreciate all that I have in America. The children in Nicaragua don’t always have things like AC, toilets and cold water, and yet the kids are always smiling and joyful. I hope that our gift, the gift of art, has given them happiness and hope. Designing hats and t-shirts and drawing and painting made the kids so happy." -by TK Camron Brock Perkins
Costa Rica 2012, Haiti 2015, Cuba 2016, Nicaragua 2017 "One World One Canvas is all about helping people and about sharing art. I think we can relate to other people even though they are different from us, because we share art. My mom says we can all communicate and share happiness through art. In 2013, I went to Costa Rica and met a little boy named Manny. I helped him tie dye a shirt. In 2015, I went to Haiti with One World One Canvas and I was able to give new shoes to my new friend Guvenson and 38 other kids, as well as soccer balls, shirts and hats to over 100 kids....all through art workshops!! We fed 3 different villages with uncooked food and oil, so they can eat for weeks. I found out that I really don't need all the things I have in the USA in order to be happy. Guvenson is very happy and I miss him. I like to meet new people. I would like to have friends all over the world. I think that would help us here in Key West because the people everywhere can see that we are all the same in some ways, even though we are each unique." -by Brock |

It is a treat to get out and experience our world, the various cultures and landscapes. Being confined to our little rock makes trips like this all the worthwhile if only to show just how much is out there and how easy it is to see it if your open and willing." Zoe Jackson
After returning back to Key West, back to the comfort of my home and after reflecting on the time I’ve spent in Nicaragua, I have come to realize just how incredible this experience was. My appreciation for the people, the culture, and the language of Nicaragua has grown tenfold. Seeing people living in poverty, completely positive and happy, has made me so much more grateful and appreciative for the life I live and all the opportunities and amenities I have been granted. Working with disadvantaged and disabled children has shown me how happy people can be when they have so little. I have now come to realize how privileged and blessed I am to have things like air conditioning, Internet, running water, or abundant reservoirs of readily available food, while millions of people across the world live without these things. Thank you so much for helping me embark on this journey. Without your help, I wouldn’t have been able to cultivate my appreciation for my life and for Nicaragua. Sydney Gallagher
Africa 2014, Haiti 2015 "Volunteering at the orphanage in Haiti was a life-changing experience. We taught art workshops, painted buildings, and donated supplies, which drastically improved the conditions of the orphanage. We also supplied a years worth of food to over 100 families throughout the community. Although I was there to teach the orphans, they taught me the most important values of life, love, patience, community, and appreciation. I carry this new-found outlook with me to my family, friends and community." -by Sydney Shiloh McPherson
Haiti 2015 “The most endearing thing I will remember is the love and compassion of the kids. Their hearts are so pure, powerful, and giving. It has inspired me to continue my life with giving the same gift of love. If we all could love in the same way as them, this earth would be enveloped with peace.” Juliette Navarro
Haiti 2015 "My trip to Haïti will forever stay in my memory as one of the best experience of my life. I met wonderful people that I will never forget and I had the chance to discover a new culture which amazed me a little more each day I was there. This trip impacted my life because I had the chance to see and experience something that very few people experienced, I got to see Haïti outside the TV's point of view and it's beauty that I had no idea before, I met amazing people that were kind, funny and proud of their culture which they loved to teach me about." -by Juliette |

"This trip has had a huge impact on the way I perceive the world around on me and made me realize how much I take for granted, and how I can change the way I value objects. The Naso tribe were extremely kind, and helping the kids will be a moment I’ll never forget. I am highly recommending this to all of my friends, and hopefully I will find a way to go on another trip. So thank you again OWOC for helping me make a difference." Daijah Bailey
Haiti 2015 "What I saw was beyond amazing. The children were all dressed in their Sunday School clothing and they were so happy to meet the OWOC group for the first time. The children sang and danced for us. The church looked small from the outside, but you'd be shocked about how many people fit in there. As soon as we walked in, the music hit us! Although the service was in Creole, we comprehended what it was about. It was the experience of a lifetime." Jordan Maun
